Bingo Playing Tips
Bingo -- as veteran bingo players are already aware of -- is a game chock full of rules (written or unwritten), rituals, and game variations. It's not that difficult for newcomers to be quickly overwhelmed and confused by all the events that happen in a bingo hall. Not to worry though, as this article contains pointers and tips that will help smooth out the learning curve for first time bingo players.
One very important tip, if not the most important one, in playing bingo is to arrive early. As most regular players will tell you, arriving early will net you essential time to prepare everything that needs to be done before playing bingo. One hour early might be enough, but for really big bingo events, two hours is the required minimum. That doesn't mean that you'll be the automatic winner if you arrive earlier than the other players though.
Arriving early will give players sufficient time to prepare for the upcoming game. Early bird players will get to do things like card preparation, finding their lucky seat (not to mention a vacant one if it's a very crowded affair), snack preparation and various other stuff that should be done before playing bingo.
Another important tip best kept in mind is to prepare everything needed before going to the bingo hall. Leaving out important bingo equipment at home can often lead to a very annoying bingo experience. Adhesive tapes and glue sticks are a must when playing on slippery tables. It's a good idea to bring some if you're going to play in an unfamiliar bingo hall.
The next tip is to position yourself close to the caller. If that's not possible, then find a seat that isn't too far from the caller. It's always a good thing to get information before the others do as this may sometimes mean the difference between a win and a loss.
One advantage of sitting near the caller is that once the next ball comes out of the tube, it is possible to get a glimpse of what that ball is. This, by no means isn't considered cheating. It's best to take advantage of this practice, but always keep in mind that calling bingo before the caller announces the number isn't allowed.
The final tip is to always stay alert. Be keen on what's happening around you, especially on what the caller is announcing. Yelling "bingo" is only allowed before the next number is announced. There's nothing more tragic than losing a huge pot because the player didn't pay close attention to the numbers being called.
So that's about it. Keep these tips in mind and you'll be on your way to having a great game of bingo.
